AMD has announced that they will be selling what they call the Personal Internet Communicator. It is a low cost (~$300 USD), low power system that is designed to be a PC for people who can't afford traditional computers. The most interesting part, in my opinion, is that they plan on selling it through service providers, who likely would also be responsible for providing Internet access. This means that this box is similar to Philip Greenspun's Mobile Phone as Home Computer idea that I discussed recently.
